Nicholls State University’s Chef John Folse Culinary Institute will host Marcelle at a book signing as one of the many events scheduled to celebrate its 30th anniversary as the first four-year culinary program in the United States. The event will take place at the Culinary Institute building, located at 914 E 1st St, Thibodaux, LA 70301. Along with the signing, Chef Don Kasten will interview Bienvenu about her five-decade career in the culinary world, her time as an instructor at the Culinary Institute, and the journey behind publishing the new edition of Who’s Your Mama, Are You Catholic, and Can You Make a Roux?

Celebrate Marcelle Bienvenu: The Queen of Acadian Cuisine
Join us at the Faulkner for All! Fall Festival on September 27th, 2024, as we honor the legendary Marcelle Bienvenu, lovingly known as the "Queen of Acadian Cuisine." This year, Marcelle is the Festival’s Special Guest of Honor, recognized for her incredible contributions to preserving and celebrating Louisiana’s rich culinary heritage.
Event Highlight:
Marcelle Bienvenu will be sharing insights from her highly anticipated new book, Who’s Your Mama, Are You Catholic, and Can You Make a Roux? This book, with a foreword by Emeril Lagasse, is a heartfelt exploration of Acadian culture and its beloved cuisine. Marcelle’s session will delve into the stories, traditions, and flavors that make Acadian cooking so special, offering attendees a unique opportunity to connect with the rich history of Louisiana through the eyes of one of its most cherished culinary voices.
The evening will culminate in a special honor as Marcelle receives the prestigious ALIHOT (A Legend in His/Her Own Time) Award during a black-tie gala at the historic Ursuline Convent’s St. Mary’s Chapel. The celebration will continue in the convent’s garden, where guests will enjoy dishes inspired by Marcelle’s recipes, accompanied by lively Zydeco music.
This is an unmissable opportunity to celebrate Marcelle Bienvenu’s extraordinary contributions to Louisiana’s culinary landscape. Join us in honoring a true legend of Acadian cuisine!
The following day the celebration continues with a panel discussion with Marcelle Bienvenu and others at 10:30 am at the Beauregard-Keyes House.

Marcelle will be a Guest Speaker at Entre nous Book Club One of the oldest Bookclubs in louisiana - celebrating their 80th Anniversary!
This private event will take place at Metairie Country Club starting at 10:30 am with coffee and casual visiting. Marcelle will give a presentation at 11:00 am and last one hour, with the last 10-15 minutes devoted to questions and/or discussion.
